Nieve en las playas de Malaga
Staggering cold conditions in Malaga have turned the beaches white!
Last week the temperatures in Malaga reached up to 24ºC. However, over the last few days temperatures have dramatically dropped down to 5ºC and on Monday morning Malaga woke up to white beaches! Freezing conditions caused the coastline in Fuengirola and surrounding areas to be covered in a thin layer of hail. The local government has been forced to issue red weather warnings due to heavy snow, rain and hail; it will continue to rain until early Wednesday morning.
The tropical coast, famous for its warm weather, has surprised tourists and local people. In Malaga it is very rare to see snowfall, as most of the time the winters are fairly mild. The average water temperature in January tends to be around 15ºC, so it’s warmer in the sea than out! Feeling cold in the water?
